Margaret P
. Cassella, 96, formerly of Heaton Court, died Wednesday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Born in Easthampton on March 28, 1910, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Gribben Page, she attended schools there. She lived in Pawtucket, R.I., and New Britain, Conn., before moving to Lenox in 1977 and to Stockbridge in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Her husband, Stephen J. Cassella, whom she married Nov. 28, 1940, died July 15, 1979. She leaves a son, Dr. John S. Cassella of Stockbridge; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Margaret P. Cassella, who died April 26, 2006, will be celebrated Monday, May 1, at 10 at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain, Conn., at 2 p.m. There will be no visiting hours. Lois Bober Davis/Brother
Joseph J. Bober Jr., 74, of New Britain passed peacefully on Sunday, (January 15, 2006) at St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Kolanski) Bober. He was a lifelong resident of New Britain. Joseph was a member of St. Ann's Church, Knights of Columbus, Council 12 of New Britain and was Past Grand Knight. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict serving in the Connecticut Army National Guard, company M169th. He was employed by Guida's Dairy for 47 years retiring in 1997. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Josephine (Amenta) Bober. He leaves three daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Nancy and Jeffrey Holyst of New Britain, Karen and Brian Butkiewicz, Lori and Andrew Jackson both of Plainville. He leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Marianne Bober of Manchester, Michael and Nancy Bober of Doylestown, PA, Lt. Col. Joseph and Anne Bober III of Panama City, FL. He leaves 14 grandchildren, DanniLee, Ethan and Briar Holyst, Brain Butkiewicz and his wife Nicole, Eric Butkiewicz, Branden and Garrett Jackson, Jessica and Aaron Bober, Michael Petrucci, Christopher Bober, Zachary, Nicole and Thavis Nye-Bober. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Doris and Richard Talbut of Binghamton, NY and Lois and Robert Davis of Southwick, MA. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marlene Bober of Framingham, MA and John and Linda Bober of Newington. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Francis and Elmer Coe of Waterford. He leaves many nieces and nephews. He was an avid crossword puzzle aficionado, working only in ink. He spent many hours in his workshop creating and repairing various items for his family. He enjoyed fishing with his best friend and brother-in-law Dom. He enjoyed attending all the school sport and musical activities in which his children and grandchildren participated. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who showed us all the importance of family. He truly did know the answer to every questions and how to fix anything. Papa will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20 at 8:30 a.m. from the Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Sq., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Lottie (Bish) Guida, 91, died with dignity and grace at home on Thursday, (November 24, 2005) surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Alexander S. Guida Jr. and was truly a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a family matriarch whose presence will be truly missed. Lottie was a pillar of the community who owned and operated Guidas Ice Cream Parlor for over 50 years. She was a charter member of Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross Ladies Guild and the Polonaise Club. She is survived by her devoted children, three sons and two daughters, Bernie J. Guida and his wife, Phyllis of Bristol; Alexander S. Guida III of Columbia; Michael J.A. Guida and his wife, Judy of New Britain. Lori Zydanowicz and her husband, Henry of New Britain; and Frances Guida of Quincy, MA. She leaves fourteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Marguerite "Peggy" (Wood) Fagan, 88, of New Britain, died Thursday, (August 18, 2005) at The Avon Health Center. Born in New Haven, she lived most of her life in New Britain, and was widowed in 1950, at the age of 32, when her husband Charles "Chick" Fagan passed away. She took great pride in successfully raising her three children. A 1935 graduate of NBHS, she was a member and past officer of the New Britain Chapter of Business and Professional Women, a member of St. Maurice Church, its Ladies Guild and Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary at St. Jerome's Church, and served as President of the Girls Club of New Britain National Bank. She worked in the Safe Deposit Department at New Britain National Bank for 28 years. She is survived by her sons Peter Fagan and his wife Gail of Silver Spring, MD, Jack and Julie Fagan of North Granby, her daughter Kathleen and Henry Giedzinski of Kennett Square, PA; eight grandchildren, Gail and Aaron Mazzatenta, David and Jennifer Giedzinski, Sara Lewis, Shani and Robert Miller, Abigail and Scott Murray, Melissa and Brady Perkins, James Morgan, and Christopher Fagan; five great-grandchildren, Megan and Adam Mazzatenta, Samuel and Cecilia Giedzinski, Colin Murray and several nieces and nephews. Helen Ann (Colwick) Malone, 93, formerly of Kensington, residing at the Jerome Home in New Britain, widow of Robert D. Malone, died Saturday (August 13, 2005). Born in New Britain, daughter of the late John and Anna (Petrilak) Colwick, Helen has been a Kensington resident since 1961 and was employed at Sears for 15 years until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Kensington; a member of the St. Paul's Ladies Guild. An avid artist in her later years, Helen completed many art courses at CCSU and was a member of the Kensington Art League. Her work was shown at the New Britain Museum of American Art and also the Berlin Fair where she took Best in Show. Surviving is a son, James J. Malone and his wife Joan of Niantic; a daughter, Sharon Malone and her fiance Joseph Schlosser of Farmington; three grandchildren, Kevin Malone of Ft. Lauderdale; Kathleen Smith and her husband David of Ipswich, MA, and Kimberly Thompson and her husband Job of Avon; four great granddaughters, Kylie and Ashley Helen Smith, and Haylie and Jessica Thompson; a sister-in-law, Audrey Colwick of New Britain and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Robert, she was predeceased by five brothers, John, Alexander, Donald, Michael and George Colwick, and a sister Agnes Laurie. Virginia (Sheehan) Maguire, a long time resident of New Britain, died Wednesday, (August 17, 2005) at The Redwoods Residential Community in Mill Valley, California. She was 87. She was born in New Britain on July 3, 1918, attended St. Mary's School and was a 1936 graduate of New Britain High School. She was a founding member of St. Maurice Catholic Church; a member of the St. Maurice Women's Club; was employed by the Southern New England Telephone Co. and later, was a long time employee of New Britain Cleaners on West Main St. Mrs. Maguire was the last family member to reside at 131 Black Rock Avenue, a house that was owned and occupied by the Fagan- Maguire family for four generations. Thomas W. Fagan, the grandfather of Raymond J. Maguire, built the home in 1910. In 1999, she relocated to Cohasset, MA; and then in 2003 to Mill Valley, CA. She is survived by a son, Daniel Maguire and his wife Beth of Naperville, IL; a daughter, Diane Nassopoulos and her husband George of Mill Valley, CA; and a son, Richard Maguire and his wife Cheryl Koren of Broad Run, VA; five grandchildren, Kevin Maguire and his wife Diana Sanmartin; Elyse Maguire; Alexandra and Christina Nassopoulos; Nicole Miller and her husband Daniel; and a great grandson, John Miller and several nieces and nephews. Raymond J. Maguire, her husband of 47 years, died in 1989. She was also predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth (Farr) Sheehan Rudolph and by her father, John Sheehan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, at St. Maurice Church, Wightman Road in New Britain. Burial will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Frances Lupo Kallaugher/Mother
Rose (Cicalese) Lupo, 90, of Weatogue, passed away peacefully on Monday, (May 9, 2005) at the John Dempsey Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1915 in Naples, Italy, the daughter of the late Antonio and Agnes (Ducatelli) Cicalese. Rose came to this country when she was 12 years old along with her brother, sister, and mother to be with her father in Bloomfield. She met and married Francis P. Lupo and were together for 67 years before he passed away on March 21, 2004. Rose, better known as Grandma Rose, was a very loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother and especially a great-grandmother to her family, and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Simsbury. She will be truly missed by her family and everyone who was touched by her. She is survived by her immediate family of a son, Louis F. Lupo of Weatogue, two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie L. Dixon and her husband, George of Windsor, Frances L. Kallaugher and her husband, Robert of East Granby, two loving granddaughters and their spouses, Lori and Mark Alexander of Glastonbury and Kim and Neal Harris of Niantic; four beautiful great-granddaughters whom she cherished, Rachelle Kallaugher, Alyssa Harris, Marisa Alexander and Gabriella Rose Alexander. She leaves a sister, Josephine Lavieri of Torrington, sisters-in-law: Antoinette Cicalese of Rocky Hill, Alyse Swingle of West Hartford, Petronella Pace and her husband, Americo of West Hartford, Rose Spirito and her husband, Savario of Rocky Hill and many wonderful nieces and nephews along with the Mayo, Walsh, Jollay and Dixon families. Besides being predeceased by her husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Anthony Cicalese. Bill Heslin/Mother, Frederica Uliano Heslin/Mother-in-law
Gertrude (Walsh) Heslin, 88, widow of William J. Heslin, Jr., died peacefully on Saturday, (November 27, 2004) surrounded by her loving family. She was born, on October 22, 1916 in New Britain, and was the daughter of the late Agnes (Hollfelder) Walsh and John J. Walsh. Gertrude was a Charter Member of St. Maurice Church and a parishioner of St. Jerome Church. A resident of New Britain all of her life, Gertrude spent the past four years in Rocky Hill. She and her husband, Billy, founder of the Heslin Dairy Company, enjoyed many summers at White Sand Beach in Old Lyme. They also cherished trips to Ogunquit, Maine, and southeastern Florida. As the oldest of eight children, she danced with her sisters and brothers in a dance group known as "The Walsh Kiddies." They were well known in the New Britain area in the 1920's and 1930's. She retired from Stanley Works in 1980 after 20 years of service. During her retirement, her life revolved around her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her life's treasures. Gertrude is survived by one daughter and four sons, Virginia Grover and her husband, William of Rocky Hill, Robert Heslin, Sr. and his wife, Eleanor of Palm Beach Shores, FL, William Heslin, III and his wife, Frederica of Marlborough, John Heslin and his wife, Elena of Kensington, Patrick Heslin and his wife, Marie of Kensington. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, Roger Grover and his wife, Donna, Tracey (Grover) McMillan and her husband, James, Trisha (Grover) DeBacco and her husband, Mark, Robert Heslin, Jr., Alicia (Heslin) Winterbottom and her husband, Robert, Patrice Heslin, Anthony Heslin, William Heslin, IV and his wife, Susan, Matthew Heslin and his wife, Andrea, John Jr., Catherine and Lauren Heslin, and Kelly, Erin, Kevin and Benjamin Heslin. She is survived by three sisters, Virginia Walsh of PaIm Beach Shores, FL, Jane Walsh Conway of New Britain, and Rosemary Walsh Ryan of Palm Beach Shores, FL; three sisters-in-law, Jennie Walsh of Coventry, Ann Walsh of Niantic, and Patty Ann Caselli of South Carolina. She also leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Alicia Heslin; her two brothers, Dr. Robert Walsh of Coventry, Hon. John F. Walsh of Niantic; her two sisters, Marion Walsh Riley of Somers, and Patricia Walsh Kiniry of Kensington; and her grandson, Michael Heslin of Minnesota. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 2, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Frances Lupo Kallaugher/Father
Francis Patrick Lupo, 93, of Pheasant Lane, Weatogue, husband of Rose (Cicalese) Lupo, died Sunday, (March 21, 2004) at home. He was born September 28, 1910, in Hartford, son of the late Luigi and Cristina (Gallucci) Lupo and had lived in Simsbury for the past 31 years. Mr. Lupo owned and operated Mayfair Upholstering in Bristol for many years prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Simsbury. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Marie L. Dixon of Windsor and Frances Kallaugher of East Granby; a son, Louis F. Lupo of Weatogue; three sisters, Alyse Swingle and Petronella Pace, both of West Hartford and Rose Spirito of Rocky Hill; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Lavieri of Torrington and Antoinette Cicalese of Rocky Hill; two granddaughters, Lori and Mark Alexander of Glastonbury and Kim and Neal Harris of Niantic; four great grandchildren, Rachelle Kallaugher, Alyssa Harris, Marisa Alexander and Gabriella Alexander. Carol F.(O'Day) Prendergast, 101, who would have celebrated her 102nd birthday Oct. 28th, died Thursday, (October 2, 2003) at a local convalescent home. Born in New Britain, she was the widow of Edwin T. Prendergast and prior to her retirement, had been employed 25 years by Magson Uniforms, in Berlin. She is survived by her children, Edwin and his wife Donna Prendergast of Southington, her daughter Carol Ann Prendergast of Southington, her son David and his wife Karen Prendergast of Cromwell; two grandsons, Todd and his wife Dina Prendergast, and Neil Prendergast all of Southington; a great grandson, Ryan Prendergast of Southington; her cousin and traveling companion, Helen O'Day of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, with a procession leaving the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, 9:30 a.m., going to St. Dominic's Church, Flanders Rd., Southington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home, Monday from 8:30- 9:30 a.m.
Cecelia M. (Dolan) Boilard, 91, formerly of Symko Dr., New Britain, died Sunday, (September 7, 2003) at Brittany Farms Health Center after a long illness. She was born in New Britain, November 8, 1911, daughter of the late Henry C. and Cecelia (McDonough) Dolan and was a lifetime resident. Cecelia was predeceased by her husband, of 56 years, Lawrence F. Boilard Sr.; also two brothers, Rev. Kenneth Dolan C.S.C.P. and Henry Dolan; also two sisters, Mrs. Mable (Dolan) Allgren and Agnes (Dolan) Lombardo. She is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Mrs. Patricia (Boilard) Zonosko and her husband Ted of Las Vegas, NV and Marie Boilard of Wethersfield; a son, Lawrence F. Boilard Jr. also of Wethersfield. Mrs. Boilard is also survived by a grandaughter, Dr. Lisa (Zonosko) Sedor and her husband Dave of Granger, IN and was predeceased by a grandson, Ted Znosko Jr.; also surviving is a great grandson, Logani Thomas Znosko of New Britain and several nieces and nephews.
Cecelia graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1930, formally
known as Teachers College of Connecticut, and taught in the New Britain School
System. She was a charter member of St. Jerome Church and served with her
husband as campaign trustees in the formation of St. Jerome Church in 1958 and
St. Thomas Aquinas High School, from which her children graduated in 1958, 1961
and 1962. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the New
Britain Memorial/Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New
Britain with the funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater
Rd., New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be

Elizabeth Davis Potkay, 86, of East Hartford died on Friday,
(September 5, 2003) at Summerville Assisted Living in South Windsor. Elizabeth
was an English teacher in the East Hartford Middle Schools for 25 years until
her retirement. She was married to the late John C. Potkay, head of Housing Code
Enforcement for the City of Hartford. Elizabeth was born in New London in 1917,
the 6th of ten children of Arthur and Elizabeth Davis of Waterford. She
graduated from Willimantic State Teachers College. She was a resident of East
Hartford for 47 years. She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution
and was a member of Saint Christopher Church in East Hartford. Elizabeth is
survived by five siblings; and three daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth
Keen of East Hartford, Barbara Rommelfanger of Lexington, MA, Joan Potkay of
Santa Fe, NM. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Meredith, Suzanne,
and Beth; and a son-in-law, Paul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Tuesday, September 9, at 11 a.m. in St. Christopher Church, East Hartford.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Hartford. Visitation will be on
Tuesday, September 9, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Callahan Funeral Home, 1602 Main

Dorothy Mikalauskas Everett
Joseph A. Mikalauskas, 86, of Vernon, beloved husband of 61 years to Dorothy (Dubicki) Mikalauskas died peacefully Sunday, (August 31, 2003) at Rockville General Hospital. Born in New Britain he is the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Walauskas) Mikalauskas and has lived in Vernon for the past 23 years previously residing in New Britain. He retired in 1979 from Stanley Tool in New Britain after many years of service, and he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter. Joseph will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by a son, Kenneth Mikalauskas of Vernon; a sister, Katheryn Mikalauskas of Ellington; three grandchildren, Dawn Pelletier and her husband, Paul of South Windsor, Kim Lajoie and her husband, Kevin, and Kelly Everett all of Vernon; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Renee Lajoie, Connor Joseph Lajoie, and Kyle Joseph Pelletier; a son-in-law, Ernest Everett of Vernon; a sister-in- law, Freda Mikalauskas of New Britain; and a brother-in-law, David Dubicki of Vernon. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy Everett; and a brother, Major Kenneth Mikalauskas. Funeral services will begin Wednesday September 3, at 9:15 a.m. from the Ladd- Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. Helen Bosco Amaro of Southington, formerly of New Britain, died Sunday (July 6,2003). She was 92.She was born in New Britain and was a teacher in the New Britain school system. She retired from the New Britain Department of Public Welfare as a social worker for 21 years.
She is survived by a son, Donald Amaro of Norwich; a daughter, Leonore Reardon of Newtown Square, Pa.; two brothers, Harold Bosco of East Lyme and Anthony Bosco of New Britain. Her husband, Leonard J. Amaro, died previously.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St Maurice Church, New Britain. Burial will be in St Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

MaryGail Pancallo Neroni/Father
Ralph J. Pancallo, 89, of New Britain died Tuesday, (June 3, 2003). Born
November 30, 1913, in Calabria , Italy, son of the late Dominic and Mary
(Gentile) Pancallo, he came to America when two months old and was raised in
Meriden. After marrying Hattie B. (Astranowicz) Pancallo, they moved to New
Britain where he raised his family and lived for the rest of his life. He
started his career as a journeyman printer at the Meriden Record and then was
employed by the New Britain Herald as a printer for many years. He left the
Herald in the 1950's to serve as a representative for the International
Typographical Union where he negotiated contracts between printers and
newspapers in New England, New York and all of the Eastern United States. His
papers on the history of the Typographical Union were donated and accepted in
the Thomas Dodd Library at UCONN. After retiring at age 65 he enjoyed spending
time with his growing family, tending to his vegetable gardens, spending summers
at his home on Nantucket and caring for his dog "Sam" who was his best friend.
He was an avid fan and supporter of UCONN mens and Womens basketball teams and
the Boston Red Sox. Besides his wife Hattie, of 62 years, he is survived by his
four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and James Moore of Farmington,
MaryGail and Richard Neroni of Hanover, NH, Suellen and Richard MacLaughlin
of Longmeadow, MA and Lori and Frank Domijan of Berlin; 11 grandchildren: two
great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves several
brothers and sisters; Grace Pancallo of Newington, John Pancallo of San Mafeo,
CA, Laura Wanta of Weston, James and Dominic Pancallo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL,
Gloria Arehart of Vienna, VA. and Raymond Pancallo of Cape Cod, MA. He was
predeceased by his sisters Rose Hehir, Anne Coppe, and Teresa Carter. Funeral
services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 9:15 a.m. from the New Britain
Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., followed by a mass of
Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, New Britain.
Entombment will be in St. Mary's Garden Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may

Josephine D'Avirro Baroni/Father
Domenic A. D'Avirro, 93, beloved husband, father, and
grandfather of New Britain, died Monday, (March 17, 2003) at New Britain General
Hospital. Born in Campodipietra, Italy, son of the late Nicola and Irene
(Mancini) D'Avirro, he has been a New Britain resident since 1947. Domenic was
employed at Stanley Works in the Power Tool Division for over 25 years, retiring
in 1975. He was a member of St. Ann's Church in New Britain and the Sacred Heart
Society of St. Ann's. He was proud of his service in the Italian Forestry
Militia after 1936. He was a member of the Order Sons of Italy in America, and
Campodipietra Society of New Britain. He was an avid gardener of both fruits and
vegetables and enjoyed wine making. Besides his wife, Anna (Mirigliani) D'Avirro;
he is survived by a son, Nicholas D'Avirro and his wife, JoAnn of New Britain; a
daughter, Josephine Baroni and her husband, Bruno also of New Britain;
five grandchildren, Atty. Lisa Baroni, James Baroni, Diana Welch and her husband
Timothy, Dr. Nicole Chiravuri and her husband Dr. Murali, and Lauren D'Avirro;
many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Mario Antonio
D'Avirro and Albert D'Avirro; and two sisters, Maria Ersilia and Maria Assunta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 20, 11 a.m. at St. Ann's
Church in New Britain, followed by entombment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling

Bill and Freddy Heslin /Father
William J. "Red" Heslin,
Jr., 86, beloved husband for 65 years of Gertrude (Walsh) Heslin, died
peacefully on Saturday (March 15, 2003) surrounded by his loving family. He was
the founder of The Heslin Dairy Company in New Britain. He was born on September
3, 1917 in New Britain, and was the son of the late Elizabeth (Lanzettle) and
William J. Heslin, Sr. William was a Charter Member of St. Maurice Church and a
parishioner of St. Jerome Church. He also was a member of the Elks Club and
Lions Club and played professional roller hockey at the old Stanley arena. He
was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and The University of Connecticut
basketball teams. Besides his wife Gertrude, William is survived by a daughter
and four sons, Virginia Grover and her husband William of Rocky Hill; Robert
Heslin, Sr. and his wife Eleanor of Palm Beach Shores, FL, William Heslin III
and his wife Frederica of Marlborough, John Heslin and his wife Elena of
Kensington, Patrick Heslin and his wife Marie of Kensington. He also leaves
behind 16 grandchildren, Roger Grover and his wife Donna, Tracey (Grover)
McMillan and her husband James, Trisha (Grover) DeBacco and her husband Mark,
Robert Heslin, Jr., Alicia (Heslin) Winterbottom and her husband Robert, Patrice
Heslin, Anthony Heslin and his wife Christine, William Heslin IV and his fiance
Susan, Matthew Heslin and his fiance Andrea, John Jr., Lauren and Catherine
Heslin and Kelly, Erin, Kevin and Benjamin Heslin. He also leaves behind 16
great-grandchildren and a sister, Patty-Ann Casilli of South Carolina. He was
predeceased by his daughter Alicia Heslin, his grandson Michael Heslin, his
brother Kenneth Heslin and his stepmother Katherine (Hart) Heslin. Funeral

Paul F. Campbell, 72, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Karen M. (McCue) Campbell, passed away Friday (December 27, 2002). Paul was born in Watertown, son of the late Irving and Margaret (McGowan) Campbell. He attended local schools in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. He continued his education at Boston College graduating in 1953. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Marines. He retired from the Emhart Corporation in 1988 after 30 years of service. After his retirement he did consulting work for Argo Industries in Berlin. He was a member of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield. Paul lived the last 16 years in Wethersfield and West Harwich Cape Cod, MA. He previously lived in Newington belonging to St. Mary Church were he taught CCD classes for many years. He was also a member of the Newington Kiwanis. Besides his devoted wife, Karen, Paul leaves two sons, Paul Judd Campbell of Framingham, MA, and James P. and his wife Linda L. Campbell of Newington; a daughter, Margaret Campbell of Hartford; four sisters, Margaret E. Campbell of Watertown, Madeline Wraight of Ellington, Mary Lou Pape of Flagler Beach, FL, and Barbara Quill of South Carolina; three grandsons, James, Jeffrey and Michael Campbell; five special nieces, Melanie, Katherine and Elizabeth McCue, Karen Wingert and Emily Wingert; and a special nephew, E.C. Wingert. He was predeceased by his brother, Hugh Patrick Campbell of Wethersfield. Eleanor "Joyce" Burns,
79, of New Britain, died Monday, (December 23, 2002) with her family by her
side. She was the widow of Matthew J. Burns, who died in 1984, and was also
predeceased by a brother, Leonard Joyce. A native and lifelong New Britain
resident, Eleanor was a bookkeeper at Stop & Save Supermarkets in New
Britain and Plainville for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St.
John the Evangelist Church in New Britain. Surviving is a son, Timothy Burns and
his wife, Bonnie of New Britain; four daughters, Patricia Najarian and
her husband, Harry of Wolcott, Cathleen Paskus and her husband, Clement of
Terryville, Mary Jane Czarneski and Maureen Corr and her husband, Robert, all of
New Britain; a brother, Francis Joyce of New Britain; a sister-in-law, Martha
Joyce, also of New Britain; ten grandchildren, Gary and Darcie Najarian,

Michael Fesiak. Born in Collinsville, she was a Newington resident for the past
25 years. Mrs. Fesiak owned and operated Marian's Restaurant, New Britain and
later worked at Tumblebrook Country Club, Bloomfield. She was a member of St.
Patrick and St. Anthony's Church, Hartford and Church of the Holy Spirit,
Newington and it's Ladies Guild. Mrs. Fesiak leaves her daughter, Brenda
Romeo, of Newington; her four grandchildren, Frank Romeo, III, Esq. and his
wife, Ortenzia Romeo, Esq., of Rocky Hill, Marc Romeo, of Los Angeles, Robin
Romeo, of North Carolina, Lori (D'Alfonso) Bleckley and her husband, LTC Dennis
Bleckley, of Atlanta, GA; her four great grandchildren, Nathan Bleckley, Matthew

"Trudy" (Donaghue) Francis, wife of the late Benjamin F.
Francis, of Glastonbury, died Thursday, (December 19, 2002) in St. Francis
Hospital. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary
(Sullivan) Donaghue and lived in the area all of her life. Prior to her
retirement, she was employed at the Connecticut Mutual Insurance Co. She
formerly was a member of the Ladies of St. Joseph at the Cathedral and a
communicant at St. Dunston Church of Glastonbury. She was the loving, unselfish
mother of three sons, Donald R. Francis and his wife, Margaret, John V.
Francis and his wife, Patricia, all of Rocky Hill, Gerald E. Francis and his
friend, Linda Ostiguy of West Simsbury; a daughter, Joanne (Francis) Powell and
her husband, Charles of Berlin; a sister, Edna Johnson of West Hartford; and a
sister-in-law, Jacqueline Donaghue of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude also leaves 11 grandsons; eight great grandchildren; and her cousin,
Sister Mary Clotilde, RSM of Mercyknoll, West Hartford. She was predeceased by
her brothers, Rev. Daniel F. Donaghue and Vincent J. Donaghue
a daughter-in-law Ellen M. Francis and a grandson, Sean M. Francis. The

Raymond Grogan/Father
Raymond F. Grogan, Sr., 86, of Newington and Old Saybrook, died on Sunday, (November 17, 2002) after a courageous battle with lymphoma. He was the husband of Virginia (Dziob) Grogan to whom he was married for 64 years. Ray grew up in the Parkville section of West Hartford and had been a long-time resident of Newington, most recently as one of the initial residents of Cedar Mountain Commons. Following in his father's footsteps, Ray had been employed by Royal Business Machines. After 45 years of service in many aspects of the Royal's business operations, he retired in 1981 as Employee Benefits Administrator. Following his retirement Ray worked part-time for the Fissette-Batzner Funeral Home. Throughout his life Ray was actively involved in many civic and social organizations and activities. He was a charter member of Our Lady of Sorrows Fife and Drum Corps (West Hartford) and was the last surviving member of a ``group of seven'' who remained close friends since the Drum Corps days. Ray was a member of the Newington Democratic Town Committee and a former member of the Newington Board of Selectman. He was also a member of the Newington Auxiliary Police Force and on the ballot for the post of Newington Police Commissioner. In 1974 he helped establish the Newington Volunteer Ambulance Corp and served as an EMT for many years. Ray was instrumental in the growth and success of the Ambulance Corps and later served in the capacity of Treasurer, then as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the organization. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary Church, a member of St. Mary Men's Club and a third degree brother in the Knights of Columbus #3084. Ray was a member of the Windsor Elks #2060 and was honored to be named as ``Elk of the Year'' in 1993. For many years Ray and Virginia enjoyed traveling to Topsail Island, NC and Florida with Mim and Dick Donahue, happily playing championship domino games with them. Ray was an avid puzzler, spending many hours assembling intricate puzzles that he then gave away as gifts. He loved to joke and tease and will be fondly remembered by his many new friends at Cedar Mountain Commons. Ray was predeceased by his son, Raymond F. Grogan, Jr. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia Grogan of Framingham, MA; a daughter, Marabeth Grogan of Newington; and his late son's wife, Jane Grogan of Newington. Affectionately known as ``Pobbie'' to his seven grandchildren, Ray will be deeply missed by William Grogan and his spouse, Allison Lauretti of Natick, MA; Eric Fairchild and his spouse, Lindsey of Agawam, MA; Sean Grogan and his fianc, Hillary Robbin of Greenwich; Colleen Dasai and her spouse, Nilesh of Newington; Amy Fairchild and her companion, Degan Heavren of Seattle, WA; Raymond Grogan, III and his fianc, Crystal Bixby of Warner, NH; and Bryan Grogan of Texas. Ray is survived by nephews John (Jack) Grogan (the succeeding patriarch of the Grogan family) and Richard Grogan; nieces Kathy Dasney, Janet Shea, Joanne Fyfe, Re Kerrigan, and Judy Hazard along with many nieces and nephews on his wife's side. Ray was predeceased by his parents John J. and Catherine (Dowd) Grogan, a sister, Helen Warner; and two brothers John (Jack) Grogan and Arthur Grogan. He also had a sister, Ruth Kerrigan. Funeral services will be held at Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. Interment will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 am at Fisette-Batzner. (April 5, 2002) in the Hospice Unit at Middlesex Hospital. She was the widow of
the late George A. Moley and daughter of the late Andrew and Eva (Boyko) Havalis.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Moley and his wife, Susan of Terryville; a
daughter, Carolyn Lyman and her husband, Charles of Chester; two sisters,
Catherine Gut of Newington and Ann Roy of Bristol; four grand-children, C. Elihu
Lyman V, William Lyman, Matthew Lyman and Kenneth Moley; a great grandchild, Eve
Moley; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother,

(Gaffey) Grace, 87, of Park Place, New Britain, passed away at home
Sunday (April 14, 2002). Marian was the widow of Robert M. Grace. She was born
in Meriden, daughter of the late John W. and Theresa (Gorman) Gaffey. She was a
graduate of Central Connecticut State University and received her Master's
Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She retired from the New
Britain school system after many years of teaching at the Slate Middle School.
She was a charter member of St. Maurice Church. A former board member of the
YWCA and a board member of the New Britain Youth Museum. A member of the Boys
& Girls Club auxiliary. Marian is survived by a son, Robert M. Grace of
New Britain; three daughters, Mary Ann Gunning of Plainville, Katherine Tullai
and her husband Gerald of New Britain, and Sheila Grace and her husband Donald
McKinney of Cape Elizabeth, ME; two brothers, John Gaffey of Mexico and Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Gaffey of Wallingford; a sister, Katherine Dorsey of Meriden; five
grandchildren, John Gunning and his wife Elise of West Granby, Matthew Gunning

Esterina
"Esther" (Fargnoli) Uliano, 91, of Rocky Hill, formerly of
Victoria Rd., Hartford, and Marlborough, died peacefully with family at her
bedside on Wednesday (May 1, 2002). Born December 17, 1910 in Providence, RI,
Esther was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Anthony Uliano. She was the
daughter of the late Frederick and Maria (Faiola) Fargnoli. Esther was a member
of St. Luke's Rosary Society and St. Ann's Society of St. Augustine Church. She
worked for many years as a receptionist at The Joanne Ferrero School of Dance,
where she was fondly known by all the students as "Aunt Esther". She
will always be remembered for her love of family, her wonderful cooking, and the
way her face would light up with a beautiful smile whenever children walked into
the room. Esther is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frederica and

Depot, 55, of Westminster,
MD, died Thursday, (May 16, 2002) at his home. Born on December 10, 1946 in New
Britain, he was the son of the late John Brennan and Elizabeth Russell Depot. He
was the husband of Pamela Myers Depot for 25 years. Mr. Depot graduated from St.
Thomas Aquinas in New Britain and from St. Michaels College in Winooski, VT with
a BA in Economics. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army. He was a vice president
at Allfirst Bank and served as an area supervisor in Carroll and Baltimore
County and recently opened the Eldersburg Branch of Allfirst Bank. He was active
in community service. He was a past president of the Carroll County Chamber of
Commerce and helped annually to organize the Boy Scouts of America Fund Drive
Breakfast. He represented Allfirst Bank in founding of the Carroll County
Deposit Corporation, being one of the six banks that made the initial funding
possible. He was the 2001 chairman of the Carroll County United Way Campaign.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Elizabeth Jean Depot of
Westminster; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Robert H. Williams of Dale
City, VA; brother, John Depot, Jr. of Kent Island, MD; sister and

| Carl L. Symecko "Dziadzi", 87,
of New Britain passed away on Friday, (June 14, 2002) at his home. He was
born in New Britain, son of the late Jan and Krystyna Szymeczko. He was
the widower of Loraine (Siwicki) Symecko. Carl was employed by the Fafnir
Bearing Co. for many years before retiring in 1977. He was a member of the
Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, Fafnir Seniors, and the Fafnir Volunteer
Fireman. Carl is survived by his son, Carl W. Symecko and his wife,
Ellen of New Britain; his daughter, Carol-Loraine DePinto and her
husband, Daniel, Sr. of New Britain; two brothers, Stanley Symecko and his
wife, Eleanor of Newington and Andrew Symecko and his wife, Dorothy of New
Britain; ten grandchildren, Daniel DePinto, Jr., Jeffrey DePinto, Mark
DePinto, Corrine Messina, Paula Abbatiello, Carl Symecko, Jr., Timothy
Symecko, Patrick Symecko, Melanie Buckley, and Lori-Ellen Symecko; 17
great grandchildren, Carla and Angela Messina, Collin and Patrick Buckley,
Michael and Anthony Abbatiello, Christine, Stephanie, Michael, and
Jonathon Symecko, D.J. DePinto, Jonathon DePinto, Nicolas DePinto, Jeffrey
DePinto, Jr., Alan Depinto, and Daniele DePinto and Christopher DePinto;
several nieces and nephews; and his close friend, Ann Hrubiec. Carl was
predeceased by three brothers, Louis Smertz, Joseph Symecko, and Edward
Symecko; and a sister, Ann Fetzer. Dziadzi lived life to the fullest
everyday. Despite his age, Dziadzi was always a "kid at heart".
His later years were filled with the joy and happiness of being surrounded
by his family and his great grandchildren. He will be missed by all but
his spirit will be remembered always. Funeral services will be held on
Monday, June 17, 9:15 a.m. from the New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral
Home, 444 Farmington Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m.
at the Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred
Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on
Sunday, June 16, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may

Mark Horvath/Mother Emma (Arneth) Horvath, 91, of New Britain, died Friday, (July 6, 2001) at an area convalescent home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Eva (Betz) Arneth, she lived most of her life in New Britain and was the widow of Anthony Horvath. She was a member of St. Peter Church. Mrs. Horvath is survived by two sons, Michael Horvath of New Britain, and Anthony Horvath of Tampa, FL; a brother, Henry Arneth of New Britain; five grandchildren, Leslie Dieter, Lyle Horvath, Karen Davis, Joan Didion and Marcia Blakeley; a great grandson, Marc Dieter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Horvath. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 9 a.m., from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Peter Church, 98 Franklin Sq., New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home
